Health Communication Part 01: Theories of Communication This training is designed to improve both interpersonal and written communication skills. The ability to listen, speak, and write well is critical to attainment of goals and objectives, particularly the ability to articulate complex information in a clear and persuasive way to nonscientific audiences. Health Communication Part 02: Foundational Theories of Health Communication/Promotion This training is designed to describe the fundamental role of the theories used most often to predict persuasion and guide behavior change in health communication and promotion. Health Communication Part 03: Social Marketing for Public Health The purpose of this online tutorial is to teach Public Health professionals the basics of social marketing and steps for establishing a successful social marketing campaign. Health Communication Part 04: Social Marketing, Branding & Message Development This training will present strategies to help you design, develop and effectively disseminate your health messages while fostering a positive relationship with your audiences. Health Communication Part 05: Communication Tools & Technologies, Including Social Media This training is designed to emphasize online public health communication to varied and diverse audiences, with a focus on popular and effective social media tools like Facebook, Twitter and Blogosphere. The training emphasizes best practices, worst/best case scenarios and the ethics and credibility of social media in public health communication. |
Health Communication Part 07: Health Literacy This training will help participants learn how to develop materials and programs that effectively reach the broadest possible audience, including those with limited health literacy skills. Health Communication Part 08: Plain Language: Avoiding Jargon, Using Numeracy This training is designed to enhance health communication using plain language to make written and oral information easier to understand. Language that is plain to one set of readers may not be plain to another set of readers. Many plain-language techniques apply both to verbal and written messages, such as avoiding jargon and explaining technical/medical terms that could affect health outcomes. Health Communication Part 09: Organizational Communication This training addressed key issues organizations face in providing public health services to diverse populations. The bureaucratization of public health, ethical dilemmas and conflict between administration and professionals are some of the issues that organizations must address, all of which demand the most effective and efficient communication between organizational members. Health Communication Part 10: Interpersonal Health Communication Maintaining good health can be helped or challenged by communication with others (e.g., family members, health care professionals). This session will cover major topics and issues in interpersonal aspects of health communication. Health Communication Part 11: Risk Communication This tutorial is designed to describe the basics of risk communication in public health practice. Effective communication of risk in times of crisis is a growing concern in Public Health practice. |
